项目摘要

2022年度は引き続き写本の収集を継続しつつ、これまでに集めた写本の分析を、おもに以下の2点から行った。ひとつは、初期中世の多くの写本に見られる学問の「区分図」についてである。前年度より着目していた『ソロモンの哲学の書』については、さらに数点の新たな写本を発見し、文献学的な視点から、複数の写本系統に分岐することだけでなく、数度の「改訂」が為されていることがより具体的に明らかとなった。この改訂においては、テクストの内容が区分図として描き起こされることによって、テクストに縛られることなく、複数の異なる理論が一つに統合されていた。さらに、使用されている語彙や内容の検討から、この史料が従来の研究で言われていたように、12世紀や9世紀に起源をもつものではなく、6世紀後半から7世紀頃まで遡ることを示唆した。このことは、学問史上における古代末期から初期中世にかけての、ある種の暗黒史観を覆しうる可能性をこの史料が秘めていることを意味する。この史料については、批判校訂版を作成する予定である。もう一つの視点は、「欄外註」である。昨年度にシンポジウム報告を行ったボエティウスの『哲学の慰め』については、より広い時代の写本を分析対象としつつ、欄外註も含めて分析の対象とし、世俗的な「哲学」像が徐々にキリストの神と同一視されていくさまを明らかにした。この研究は2023年度刊行予定の論集に収録が決まっている。さらに、マルティアヌス・カペッラの『フィロロギアとメルクリウスの結婚』にも着目し、複数の校訂版を比較検討しつつ、欄外註が当時の学問観を知るうえで重要な史料となり得ることを指摘した論文を上梓した。その他、しばしば初期中世の写本に挿入されているギリシアの七賢人に関するテクストの校訂版を作成し、その典拠に関する考察を行った。いずれの成果も、初期中世における学問観を明らかにするうえで重要な知見となるだろう。
