项目摘要

本研究は、3者以上の集団における相互協力関係の達成という問題に対して、「複数タイプの互酬的行動の組み合わせ」という観点からアプローチするものである。これまでの理論研究においては「目には目を」型の単純な互酬的行動しか想定されておらず、現実社会の人々が様々なタイプの互酬的行動を状況により使い分けたり、組み合わせて用いていることを見逃してきた。本研究は、複数タイプの互酬的行動の組み合わせにより、人間社会を特徴づける間接的な相互協力関係が可能であることを理論的・経験的に示すことを目標としている。本研究は、「目には目を」型の互酬的行動を単に人々が示すだけでなく、他者もそのように行動することを期待した上で行動を決定している点に着目し、そのような期待をもたらす状況に共通の特徴を明らかにするための実験を実施した。実験結果により、人々が他者の互酬的行動を期待できないときには協力行動を起こさないこと、また、架空の対人関係に比して現実的な対人関係に置かれただけで、他者の互酬的行動を期待するようになることが明らかにされた。さらに、今後実施する予定である国際実験のための予備的実験の結果を分析し、従属変数の再考、実験デザインの改善、実験用コンピュータ・プログラムの修正、理論的予測の検討などを行った。また、実際に海外の大学と共同で国際実験を実施し、発生可能性の高い問題を特定し、実験環境の整備を進めた。分析結果は、他者の非協力行動に直面した人々が、自らは協力を続けると同時に非協力者に対して攻撃を行うことを示していた。また、このような攻撃を内集団メンバーから受けたときには協力行動が促進されるが、外集団メンバーから受けたときには促進されないどころか攻撃の仕返しを行う場合があることも明らかにされた。
