瑜伽行派の基本典籍である『瑜伽師地論』のうち,最古層の属すると考えられている『菩薩地』と,その思想を発展的に解釈した「摂決択分中菩薩地」との思想的関係について,昨年度の『菩薩地』「真実義品」の校訂テキスト作成に引き続き,本年度は「摂決択分中菩薩地」「真実義品決択」の部分校訂テキストを作成した.その校訂テキストに基づき,内容を考察した結果,初期の瑜伽行派の思想的発展について以下の結論を得た.1.『菩薩地』の思想と瑜伽行派の唯識思想とは一見すると相容れない様相を呈しており,思想的に連続性のあるものとはみなされてこなかったが,「摂決択分」「真実義品決択」に見られる五事説は『菩薩地』の思想と関連が深く,またこれが瑜伽行派の代表的な学説の一つである三性説の成立に影響を与えている可能性が明らかになった.2.『菩薩地』で説かれ,その後の『大乗荘厳経論』を初めとする諸文献に継承された「四尋思・四如実智」という観法の内容の変化に着目し,『菩薩地』と『荘厳経論』以降の文献の間に見られる思想的な飛躍を指摘する従来の定説に対して,「摂決択分」の五事説に見られる記述を両文献の間の思想的発展過程を示す資料として位置づけることができること,またその記述が,瑜伽行派の思想を理解する上で重要な概念である「転依」と「四尋思・四如実智」という観法を結びつけて理解するための素地を与えたことを明らかにした.これにより従来,思想史的位置づけが曖昧であった『菩薩地』の思想を,珠伽行派の思想史の中で連続性のあるものとして理解しうることを指摘した.
