最終年度である本年度は、具体的な検討課題である、戦後初期ポーランドにおける共産主義者と民族主義者と思想的・人脈的相互影響について、一昨年度および昨年度に収集した資料の本格的分析を継続して行った。とりわけ、ポーランドが獲得した旧ドイツ領を脱ドイツ化・ポーランド化する政策の一環として遂行された、ドイツ語地名のポーランド語地名への改名問題に着目した。その結果、膨大な量におよぶこの改名作業は、民族右派のイデオローグであった歴史家ズィグムント・ヴォイチェホフスキが所長となり戦後ポーランド国境保全のための学術研究推進を一つの目的として創設された西方研究所や、同研究所と同様の目的を持つに至ったシロンスク研究所、さらにはポーランド学術界の総本山ともいえるポーランド知識アカデミーなどが深く関わった一種の国家プロジェクトであり、多分野にまたがる数多くの研究者がこれに積極的に関わっていたことが解明された。この成果については、2005年12月14-16日に開催された、北海道大学スラブ研究センター主催の国際シンポジウム"Regions in Central and Eastern Europe : Past and Present"において、"Imagining Their Lands as Ours : Place-Name Changes on Ex-German Territories in Poland after World War II"と題して研究報告を行った。総じて本研究は、戦後初期ポーランドにおいては共産政権への反発も強い一方で、国境線の変更と民族構成の変化という「国のかたち」をめぐる問題では政権と知識人とが結果的に協力し合い、支え合っていた側面があったことを明らかにできた。
