青森県田舎館村垂柳遺跡、岩手県盛岡市熊堂B遺跡、岩手県種市町上野場3遺跡、東京都狛江市田中寺前遺跡からえられた土壌サンプルについてフローテーション作業を行い、分析結果を報告した。研究室環境で個人の処理能力を超えたサンプルについては前年度と同様に、分析業者に委託して炭化種子を回収した。縄文時代晩期〜古代の各遺跡からは非常に多くの炭化種子が回収され、興味深い結果が得られた。とくに垂柳遺跡では住居の炉からイネが検出されただけではなく、水田耕作土にも未熟なイネが多数含まれていることがわかり、今後の研究にも重要なデータを提供することとなった。このほか、青森県むつ市江豚沢遺跡においては、弥生時代前期の竪穴住居の発掘調査を行い、床面の炉焼土をサンプリングしてフローテーションを行った。さらに日本列島との比較の意味でカムチャッカ半島東海岸ナルィチェヴォ9遺跡の竪穴住居の炉焼土も分析の対象としたが、いずれの遺跡からも残念ながら炭化種子を検出することはできなかった。また、今年度は最終年度のため、過去3年間の成果をまとめる作業も並行して実施し、最終的な成果報告書を刊行した。
