母親が育児をする中で感じていること、保健師が健診場面で感じていることについてのインタビューを行った。その結果、母親は日中子どもとだけいる生活への、いらだちやあせりを抱えながら育児を行っている実態が明らかとなり、保健師は、子どもの発達とかみ合わない親子のコミュニケーションに違和感をもっていた。これらの内容から質問項目を構成し、質問紙調査を行った。その結果、4か月では子どもの成長に喜びを感じている母親は、子どもをなだめたり、あるいは子どもとのスキンシップを図る行動が多いことが明らかとなった。1歳以降では、言語発達が遅い傾向にある児の母親は、育児の負担感が高く、そうでない母親は育児への喜びや充実感が高いという結果が得られた。また、育児への喜びや充実感を感じている母親は、子どもの行動を見て、それをまねたりするなどの非言語的なコミュニケーションを多く行っている傾向にあった。これらの結果から、子どもの発達や成長に気づくことができること、発達に見合った言語的、非言語的コミュニケーションがとれることが、子どもの言語発達との関連があると考えられた。一方、言語発達が遅い傾向にある児を抱える母親は、子どもとのコミュニケーションがうまくとれないことやあせりから負担感が高くなることも考えられた。また、6か月までの子どもの気質との関係を見ると、子育てに不安感やイライラ感をもっている母親は、子どもが寝るまでに手がかかったなど育てにくさとの関連も示された。子どもと接する経験のない母親が多く存在することを考えると、子どもの発達段階を伝えていくことや確認していくこと、そして発達に見合った子どもとの関わりができるよう母親を支援していくことが、子育ての不安やイライラを軽減させることにつながると考えられた。学会発表:母親の養育意識に関連する要因についての検討(第64回日本公衆衛生学会総会,2005.9:北海道)
