1.間接互恵性における社会内制裁の役割を調べた。「良い」と「悪い」の二値評判のモデルを用い、どのような評判の付け方、すなわち社会規範が、高水準の協力を安定的に維持できるかをESS解析により調べた。その結果Leading eightとよばれる8つの社会規範を発見した。これら社会規範は「評判の良い者が評判の悪い者に非協力すること」を「良い」行動とみなすという共通点を保つ。すなわち社会内制裁の正当化が間接互恵性の進化に不可欠であることが分かった。またレプリケーター力学系を用い、行動戦略の大域的な進化ダイナミクスを検討し、無条件協力戦略と条件付き協力戦略の安定共存平衡点が存在することを発見した。さらにプレーヤーに社会的・文化的なタグがついている場合に関して、タグを利用した間接互恵性の進化条件を見出した。2.ワーカーが妊性を持つ社会性昆虫に多く見られる、血縁選択理論では説明の出来ないワーカーによる警察行動を、ワーカーの適応的スケジューリングという観点から捉え、ワーカーと女王からなる動的ゲームモデルにより説明した。コロニー成長の初期段階では血縁度に関係なく警察行動がNash均衡となる事を発見した。これはコロニー初期では、繁殖虫生産へ投資して得られる直接的利益よりもワーカー生産へ投資して得られる将来の間接的利益のほうが大きいからである。3.米国・ハーバード大学・Martin A.Nowak教授らのグループと共同で、空間構造が協力の進化へ及ぼす影響を調べた。構造が有限グラフで与えられる集団内の進化ゲームダイナミクスを集団遺伝学の手法を用いて解析し、協力行動の適応進化条件がb/c>kであることを発見した。ここでb, cは協力行動の利益及びコスト、kはグラフにおける平均近傍数である。
