项目摘要

筆者の研究課題は、エウリピデス悲劇におけるコロスの役割を分析することにある。特に、コロスが劇虚構内において歌舞隊(コロス)の役割を担うことに示される、悲劇コロスの存在に対する自己言及性に着目することで、コロスの劇虚構内における儀礼的役割が当該劇においていかなる意味を持つかを明らかにすることを目指している。今年度は『フォイニッサイ』を取り上げ、本劇コロスが、アポロンの感謝を捧げるための歌舞隊(コロス)であることに着目した。そこから以下の二点を論じる。第一に、テーバイ人ではなく、フェニキアの乙女たちが本劇コロスであることは、テーバイの共同体の機能不全を示すと同時に、閉塞した状況からの突破口を呼び込む外部性を含む。まず、本劇のデルフォイは、テーバイと対置される理想郷として定時され、そこを目的地とするコロスの旅程は、テーバイの未来への救いの可能性を示唆すると言える。テュロスからテーバイ、さらにデルフォイへと向かうコロスの空間的移動が、テーバイの過去から現在へ至る歴史に重ねられ、ひいては未来への希望を暗示するのである。さらに、コロスとは神々との相互的関係の構築を目指す儀礼的存在である。本劇コロスはアポロンとテュロスの共同体との良好な関係を前提としており、彼女らの発するテーバイ救済への願いは、神の意に反したオイディプスの誕生以来病んだままのテーバイ内部から発せられるのとは異なる重みを持つであろう。第二は、コロスの乙女性であり、そのアイデンティティーは彼女らのコロス奉仕と密接に結びつく。本劇において乙女性は、アンティゴネとメノイケウスを通じて一つの主題を為すと同時に、イオカステに体現される母親と対を為す。さらに母親と乙女の対は、女神デメテルとペルセフォネへの呼びかけによって、本劇の主要な主題であるテーバイ創設時に溯る大地の怒りに結びつくものである。このように、悲劇コロスが劇虚構内でコロスの担い手とされることへの着目を通じて、本劇の研究においてもコロスの役割の一端に光を当てることに成功している。
