従来、世帯人員は「両親と子供2人の4人家族」が標準とされてきたが、核家族化により従来の「標準」と呼ばれるものが崩れている。住宅内での湯の使用方法は、居住者の生活に応じて大きく異なる。設備機器を考える上では、使用方法の影響を考えることは重要であるにもかかわらず、今なお4人家族を中心とした考え方で研究が進められているのが現状である。そこで、最近の世帯構成の多様化やライフスタイルの多様化を考慮した調査データの整備が急がれている。既往研究においては、「高齢者世帯」での調査は不足している。「標準世帯」が見直されつつある昨今、世帯構成ごとにデータを整理し、既往研究で調査されていない世帯構成についての生活実態全般の知見を得ることを主な目的とする。(1)世帯構成や生活行為における既往研究の整理。(2)調査への協力自体が容易でないと思われる高齢者世帯について、アンケート調査を行った。調査に当たっては、調査に対する負担をできるだけ軽減できるような手法および設問内容について検討した。(3)高齢者世帯の湯使用方法についてまとめるとともに、高齢者以外の世帯の生活行為とどのように異なるのか比較検討を行った。
