平成16年度から17年度にかけて、東南大学知識人の概要をまとめた。これを基礎として17年度から本年度にかけて東南大学知識人の個別的具体的研究に入り、本年度は、その成果を2件の学術論文にまとめ、公表した。1件は、論文「南京時期の唐君毅について」である。唐君毅は、現代新儒家の代表格であり、その思想については台湾・香港において盛んに研究されているが、筆者は、唐君毅が19歳から28歳までの多感な青年時代を南京の国立中央大学において過ごしたことに着目し、それに関する資料を収集し、若き唐君毅の思想形成歴程を詳細に調査した。その結果、東南大学から引き続き国立中央大学の教席にあった方東美と宗白華から唐が多大な影響を受けていたこと、さらには唐が東南大学の学風を北京大学のそれと比較して高く評価していたことが明らかになった。唐君毅は、1949年に香港に移り、香港・台湾の教育界に大きな業績を残すが、その思想の根本に東南大学が存在するという点は重要であると考える。唐君毅に関する具体的研究によって、東南大学の歴史的意義も明らかになった。もう1件は、論文「劉伯明の思想」である。劉伯明は、今では無名の人物であるが、当時においては中国を代表する哲学者であった。同時に劉は、東南大学の領袖としてその教師・学生に大きな影響を与えた人物で、いわば東南大学の礎石を築いた人物である。筆者は、劉の思想の根本に「科学的精神」があり、東南大学に教鞭をとり、学衡派に属していたが、劉の思想は決して守旧反動でなかったことを明らかにした。さらには、これを通して東南大学や学衡派の負のイメージを払拭することもできた。資料は、16・17年度に南京で収集したものを使用した。本年度は本課題の最終年度なので、今まで公表した論文を基本にして研究成果報告書を作成した。これをもって東南大学知識人の基礎的研究がほぼ達成された。
