おもに13世紀から14世紀にかけてのゴシック期のフランシスコ会修道院の建築と絵画を取り上げて, これまであまり研究の対象とされなかった修道院参事会室や修道女席, また回廊などに描かれる絵画図像について, 建築的文脈や当時の宗教的・政治的状況を考慮に入れながら考察した。特にナポリのサンタ・マリア・ドンナレジーナ修道院とサンタ・キアーラ修道院, シエナのサン・フランチェスコ聖堂については, 全般的な調査に基づき, 絵画の図像的な意味と建築の役割を明らかにすることができた。

From the 13th century to the 14th century, the architecture and painting of the monastery were selected, and the objects of study were examined in the context of the architecture, the religious and political conditions of the time. Special attention is paid to the basic research, the meaning of painting and the service of architecture.
