安芸国の中世武士団小早川氏の領域(安芸東南部)には、中世の石塔(宝篋印塔・五輪塔)が無数に残る。本研究はこうした石塔を歴史資料として活用するため、残欠に至るまで一つひとつ調査を行い、所在位置や原位置の確認、個体数の把握、各部寸法や特徴など、今後の研究に必要な基本データを収集したものである。調査地点は6 市町・279 箇所にわたり、確認した石塔は、宝篋印塔339 基、五輪塔1042 基、一石五輪塔487 基に及ぶ。旧三原市域を除けば、初めて実施された石塔の悉皆調査であり、その意義は極めて大きい。

The Middle Ages Samurai of Anyun Kingdom, Kobayakawa's Domain (Southeast of Anyun), and the Middle Ages Stone Pagoda (Treasure Box Seal Pagoda and Five Wheel Pagoda) are numerous. This study includes the following aspects: historical data of stone pagodas are used, residual data are used, investigation is carried out, location and original location are confirmed, individual number are grasped, method and characteristics of each part are determined, and basic characteristics are collected for future research.
