Fall risk assessment tool in the acute care hospital for benchmarking

本研究的目的是开发急症护理医院患者跌倒风险评估工具，这是标杆管理所必需的。首先，我们确定了标杆的定义，然后对跌倒风险评估工具进行了检验，以评估急性护理住院患者的跌倒体验。其次，基于美国普罗维登斯医院预防跌倒的努力，我们开发了急性护理期的跌倒风险评估工具，然后我们在日本的两家急性护理医院使用了三个月的工具。以2点作为跌倒高风险的分界点，敏感性为66.7%，特异性为34%。6家急诊科医院内对标跌倒率为1.11 ~ 3.91，伤病员指定跌倒率为0.03 ~ 0.45。这些结果被评估为低于美国报道的发生率，考虑到跌倒定义的差异导致这些情况。

The purpose of this study is development of the fall risk assessment tool in patients of acute care hospitals which is necessary for benchmarking. First, we identified the definition of benchmarking, and then fall risk assessment tool was examined for the falling experience of the hospitalized patients in acute care. Secondly, we developed the fall risk assessment tool for the acute care term version as based upon the effort for the prevention against falls at Providence Hospital in U.S.A. Then we used these tool for 3 months at 2 acute care hospitals in Japan. Using two points as the cutoff for high risk of falls, sensibility was 66.7%, and specificity was 34%. And the rate of fall in 6 acute care hospitals was 1.11-3.91 for inward benchmarking, and specified rate of fall of patients with injury was 0.03-0.45. These results were evaluated as lower rate than reported in U.S.A. The difference of definition of fall was considered to cause these situations.
