项目摘要

本研究は、ユーザが多量のデータから有益な情報を見出すために行う探索的な分析行為を支援する技術の実現を目的としている。このような分析行為の支援の枠組みとして、ユーザが自然言語でシステムに質問し、システムが可視化表現(統計グラフ)でユーザに応答するインタラクションモデルを提案している。本年度は、(1)昨年度に試作したシステムを用い、被験者実験を行ってユーザの自己内省行為がシステムの操作にどのように現れるかにっいての分析、(2)テキスト情報と数値情報を併用した探索支援システムのモデル化と実装、を行った。(1)では、5人の被験者を対象として、10年分の売上高データの分析結果から今後の販売指針を立案するタスクを課し、その様子を観察した。その結果、被験者らは、探索過程で生じた疑問や得られた知見を振り返る際の手掛かりとして、付箋機能を用いてテキスト形式で外在化した表現だけでなく、オブジェクトの位置やサイズ変更といった操作で生じた視覚情報を用いられている様子が観察された。この結果から、外在化表現と内的資源(記憶)とを適切に対応させる枠組みが、探索的データ分析支援にとって重要であることが示唆される。また(2)に関しては、動向情報を対象とし、それに対するユーザの関心(e.g.,最近数ヶ月のガソリン価格の変化、ここ数年の携帯電話加入者数の推移)に応じて時系列数値情報を統計グラフ(折線グラフ)として描画し、その上に関連する言語情報をその内容に応じたアイコンの形式で協調的に提示する方法を提案した。このアイコンは言語情報へのポインタの役割も兼ねる。これにより、ユーザは描画されたグラフ自体を自分の知りたい情報の概観(要約)として利用できるだけでなく、興味を持った箇所についてどのようなことが述べられているかを背景となっている文書群にアクセスすることで参照できるようになっている。
