项目摘要

本年度は平成17・18年度に作成した文様データベースを補完し、中国の作例と比較しつつ、8世紀から12世紀の日本の宝相華を中心とした装飾文様の変遷を追った。その結果、日本の装飾文様の中には、中国の影響は9世紀以後も継続して見られ、和風文様の成立には、中唐から晩唐期および晩唐期の影響が残る遼早期の文様が深く関わっていることが確認された。中でも奈良・平安時代を通して使用される府瞰形の花文は、盛唐期に中国で生まれた花文が8世紀半ばた日本へ伝わり・以後10世紀前半にかけて中唐・晩唐期の影響を受けつつ独自の変化の過程をたどり定着したもので、11世紀前半の大量の造寺造仏の機会に一気に日本化して華麗さを極め、11世紀半ばから12世紀前半にかけて和風文様として盛行した文様であることが明らかとなった。このことから、日本における装飾文様の和風化はI 日本化以前:730年頃〜880年頃唐文化の選択的受容の時代。後の和風文様の祖型が伝来するII 萌芽期:880年頃〜950年頃晩唐〜遼風の文様要素を選択的に受容する一方で和風表現の模索が始まるIII 形成期:950年頃-1030年頃晩唐様式を継承しつつ、独自性を強めた文様表現が生まれるIV 完成・継承期:1030年頃〜1130年頃日本独自の文様表現を実現するV 展開・衰退期:1130年頃〜1190年頃 IV期の作風を継承しつつ、新たな展開を模索し宋風の文様表現を取り入れるが、次第に文様としての生命力が失われ、形式化する以上の5つの段階を経て進んだものと考えられる。
