養殖マガキの表中層における懸濁物のろ過摂食による環境浄化と底層への沈降粒子負荷という両面の機能を評価した。特に、長崎県形上湾における従来の調査結果をまとめ、マガキ養殖場の新しい評価指数(成長速度/沈降フラックス)に関する論文を第5回世界水産学会議で発表した。また、唐津湾と博多湾を加えた3つの内湾における養殖マガキ成長、餌環境要因(クロロフィル、懸濁物、栄養塩)、沈降粒子フラックスに関するデータを比較検討した。
