近年、制御系においてコンピュータを活用することが浸透している。しかし、コンピュータは、本質的に連続時間的には動作できず、離散時間的にしか動作し得ない。その一方で、制御系の性能は、時々刻々と連続時間的に変化する信号をいかにうまく制御可能であるかという観点で評価される。そのような事情から、コンピュータを利用した制御系の性能解析や、その考え方に基づく制御系設計においては、連続時間信号と離散時間信号の双方をいかにして一貫性を持たせて取り扱うのか、という視点の取り方が、きわめて重要な役割を果たす。このような観点に関してひとつの明解な解答を提示することのできる数学的枠組みとして、関数解析に基づく作用素理論を援用する方法を対象として研究を行っている。そのような方法について、より洗練された方法への深化と、より一般的な方法への拡張を行い、成果を得た。
