イモゴライトの特異な凝集の原因は、アルカリ性でイモゴライトの表面が電気的に中性になるためと考えられた。霞ヶ浦湖水の白濁現象の原因としてハロイサイトの可能性が考えられた。土壌の撥水性は、疎水性有機物や含水比、粘土添加等によって大きく変化することが判った。
