在宅で終末期患者を看取った遺族への遺族訪問ケアプログラムを開発し、無作為割付(介入群と通常ケア群)を行う準実験研究を実施した。その結果、介入群は通常ケア群に比べて、身体的症状が少なく複雑な悲嘆に陥るという危機を回避することができ、介入群はストレスへの対処の「回避・逃避型」である消極的な対処が軽減する傾向がみられ、大切な人の死別というストレスに対し、逃避することなく悲嘆の作業を行うことにつながっていた。

In the terminal stage of the family visit, the family visit is initiated, and no action is taken (intervention group and general group). As a result, intervention groups usually lose weight, physical symptoms are less, complex grief is more likely to occur, crisis avoidance is more likely, intervention groups are more likely to occur, and the opposite is an "avoidance/avoidance type."
