運動技能の指導場面では,他者と向じように練習を行っても,なかなか技能の向上が認められない学習者が見受けられる。このような学習者は,運動不振と呼ばれ,主として小学生以下の子どもを対象に研究が行われている。そのため,中学,高校及び大学生についての研究は少なく,科学的研究の基礎となる測定評価の方法についてもほとんど検討が進められていない。そこで,大学生を対象に調査を行い,運動不振の程度を測る尺度,すなわち,運動不振尺度を開発することを目的として研究を進めた。大学生312名を対象に質問紙を用いて調査を行った。質問項目は,デモグラフィック特性に関する項目,運動不振に関する項目,外的基準(運動有能感尺度,スポーツ、コミットメント尺度)に関する項目の3タイプ,計59項目であった。得られたデータを統計的に分析し,「身体操作力」と「ボール操作力」の2つの下位尺度からなる尺度を作成した。「身体操作力」は,(1)閉脚跳びができる(跳び箱運動),(2)逆上がりができる(鉄棒運動),(3)腕立て側転ができる(マット運動),(4)ハードル走でリズム良く跳ぶことができる(走・跳運動)の4項目から構成され,「ボール操作力」は,(5)ドリブルしてからシュートができる(バスケットボール型),(6)フライを捕ることができる(ベースボール型),(7)アタックでタイミング良くボールを打つことができる(バレーボール型),(8)インステップキックができる(サッカー型)の4項目から構成される。これらの2つの下位尺度と外的基準との相関係数を計算した結果,比較的強い相関(r=.40〜.70)が認められたことから,今回開発した尺度は,妥当性があるものと考えられる。なお,これらの研究成果を日本スポーツ方法学会第19回大会で発表した。
