システムで取り扱うデータ量は爆発的に増加し,データインテンシブなアプリケーションが重要視されるようになってきた.それに伴い,より高機能で高性能なストレージ技術が求められている.近年,分散されたストレージをネットワークで統合・集中管理できる技術として,iSCSIを使用したIP-SAN(IP Storage Area Network)が注目を集めている.IP-SANは従来のハイエンドなFC-SANに比べ,コモディティなIPネットワークの使用により,長距離接続による広域SANの実現,管理・構築コストの大幅な削減が可能となる.そのため,ディザスタリカバリや,クラスタなどの大規模なシステムに対する適用が期待されている.しかしIP-SANでは,オープンなIPネットワークを介するためセキュリティが重要な課題であるが,既存の暗号化通信方式であるIPsecは下位のIP層で逐次的な暗号化処理を行うため,効率的な暗号化を行うことができない.そこで,まず本研究では,iSCSIを用いて,IP層より上位層において,暗号化の先処理によって最適化するストレージアクセス方式を提案し,構築した.高遅延環境により評価した結果,片道遅延時間は1ms〜64msの場合には,IPsecより1.4倍から6.6倍スループットが向上した.次に本研究では,IP-SANをクラスタ型のシステムに導入し,専用のストレージネットワークがノード間通信のネットワークへ統合されたストレージ統合型クラスタを構築した.このようなクラスタでは,統合ネットワーク上で双方の通信が衝突する可能性がある.よって本研究では,ノード間通信とストレージへのI/O処理が,統合ネットワーク上でどのように影響し合っているのかについて評価を行った結果,IP-SAN統合型クラスタはローカルディスクを用いた場合の性能と遜色が無く,有効であることがわかった.
