平成19年度においては、研究対象であるソ連時代の科学史関係の資料(1920-30年代の各種公刊書籍、小冊子、文書館料等)を収集するためにロシア連邦・モスクワに赴いた(6月13日-11月25日)。現地ではモスクワ国立人文大学を受け入れ先として滞在しつつ、国立図書館、科学技術図書館、科学アカデミー文書館、ロシア国立社会経済史文書館、ロシア連邦国立文書館等の施設にて資料の探索・入手・読解に従事した。ここで得られた成果は、帰国後にまとめた二つの論文-現在、双方とも学術雑誌への投稿を準備中-に直接生かされている。具体的には、1920-30年代の哲学論争という歴史的事例を通じながら、弁証法的唯物論というソ連公認の哲学体系と物理学の具体的な成果との関係において、どのような軋みがみられたか、(そしてより重要なことに)どれほどの親和性がみられたのか、総合的に検討することができた。また、1930年代のソ連における哲学者あるいは哲学者的な工学者と指導的物理学者との間に行われた具体的な論争の過程を追い、これまで不十分にしか知られていなかった前者の哲学的な主張を明確にすることができた(空間やエネルギーの担い手としての何らかの物質を想定するべきであるとする明確な立場)。このことによって、20世紀半ばにおいて知的世界で国際的にも影響力をもった-ソ連においてはそれと個別学問との調停が死活間題ともなった-マルクス主義において自然哲学がいかなる位置を占めており、具体的な政治的・社会的状況の中で科学者がいかなる対応をとりえたのか、内在的で哲学的内容そのものに踏み込んだ理解が可能になりつつある。この歴史過程はソ連邦という権威主義的国家のもとで進行し、それゆえに政治状況との複雑な関係を伴っていたが、そうした側面にも注意を払いつつ内在的理解をも押し進めることで、科学と哲学の相互関係-20世紀のような専門分化あるいは脱・形而上学化が進行した時代においてぱ等閑視されがちな-を考える際に重要な事例を提供できたと考えられる。また、ソ連史の文脈においても、なぜ物理学者集団と政権が比較的平穏な共生関係を営み続けることができたのか、という問いに対する、重層的で明快な回答が為されつつある。モスクワではロシア随一の科学史研究機関である科学アカデミー自然科学史・技術史研究所において、ウラジミール・ヴィズギン博士ら一流の物理学史家のもと、討論を積み重ね、博士のセミナーにおいて自らの研究成果の一部を発表する機会を得ることができた。これによって、ロシア人歴史家との双方向的な知的交流の端緒につくことができた。彼らとの交流は現在も続いており、今後も続くであろうが、こうした交流の開始もモスクワにおける在外研究の貴重な成果といえるであろう。

Data on the relationship between scientific history in the 1920s and 1930s (various public publications, pamphlets, documents, etc.) was collected for research purposes (June 13-November 25). The National Humanities University has been invited to explore, start and solve the problems related to facilities such as the National Library, the Science and Technology Library, the Science and Technology Library, the National Social History Library, and the National Library of the United States.
