本研究プロジェクトは、立命館大学政策科学部所属の研究者を中心メンバーとして、アスベスト災害・公害の実態とその解決に向けての制度設計に関する学際的研究を行ったものである。国内外の研究調査を通じて、アスベスト被害事例の実態、アスベスト災害・公害の社会科学的な特徴、アスベスト被害の補償・救済制度の現状と課題等を明らかにしたうえで、現在および将来におけるアスベスト被害に対する問題解決へ向けた制度設計として、救済制度と裁判の両立、労災と環境被害を統一した法律の重要性等を明らかにした。
