中国における日本住血吸虫症流行地が低下してきている状況に応じて、中間宿主及び終宿主の感染を簡便で効率的な遺伝子検出によって評価するシステムを構築し、中間宿主貝の生態分布の地理生物学的なモニター、及び中間宿主貝と寄生虫の地理分布による適応の差異に関する情報も併せてリスクマップの作製を進め、流行状況が急速に変化してきている中国国内の日本住血吸虫症流行に対する新規対策スキームの開発と応用の可能性を中国との共同研究として実施した。
