加齢黄斑変性の発生機序を解明するために、疾患モデルとなるレーザー誘発脈絡膜血管新生マウスを作成し、脈絡膜新生血管発生に影響を与えると思われる候補遺伝子の解析を行った。更に、マウスのレーザー誘発脈絡膜血管新生モデルを用いて、多発性骨髄腫の治療薬である2-methoxyestradiolの内服での薬物治療が有用であることを明らかにした。
