インド南部、アチャンコヴィル剪断帯(以下ACSZ)中に産する特異な超マフィック岩体の成因、特に関与したメルトの成因およびそれを形成したマントル過程についての研究を行った。今年度は特に、岩体中のグラファイトを含むスピネル岩を検討した。グラファイトはスピネル岩の他にもグリメライトにも含まれるが、高い結晶度を有し、C同位体比は-7～-9.8‰と、マントル起源のグラファイトの値を示す。これは還元的なマントルの存在を示唆し、特異な超マフィック結晶集積岩(高Mg、低Cr,Ni)を生じたマグマ生成と整合的である。また、インド南部の原生代パルガート・カウベリ縫合帯中の超マフィック岩(メタガブロおよびエクロガイトを伴う)を予察的に検討した。ハルツバーガイトであり、少量の角閃石を含む。かんらん石はFo90前後、スピネルのCr#は0.3低度であり、かんらん石-スピネルマントル列にプロットされ、マントル溶け残り岩の性質を示す。初生的な性質はある種の海洋性かんらん岩的であり、古い時代の海洋リソスフェア(プレート衝突で消滅した海起源)の断片の可能性がある。形成後、マントル・ウェッジの状態を経て縫合帯形成時の衝突でへい入したものであろう。また、同縫合帯においてアラスカ型貫入岩体の一部と思われるものを発見した。この岩体は含ホルンブレンド・ダナイトを主とし、ホルンブレンドを含むウェブスタライトを伴っており、全体としてグラニュライト中に貫入している。スピネルはCr#(0.8前後)、Fe3+(三価陽イオン中の比が0.3)が高いのが特徴である。単斜輝石はNb,Ta,Tiに乏しく、島弧的なマグマの関与がうかがえる。鉱物化学的特徴は、既にアフリカなどで報告されている原生代のアラスカ型貫入岩体中のものと一致する。
