17世紀科学革命期のイタリアにおける協和音とその知覚の問題を中心とした音楽理論の動向を明らかにすることを課題とする本研究は、昨年度末に提出した博士論文『16・17世紀のイタリアにおける数学的音楽理論の展開-協和音とその知覚の問題を中心に-』の一部においてその主たる目的を達成した。本論文第5章のガリレオの協和音論と、第6章のメンゴリの音程知覚論に関する研究がそれにあたる。今年度は、17世紀イタリアの音楽を実践面から捉える研究に取り組んだ。具体的には、バロック音楽様式の確立者として知られる作曲家クラウディオ・モンテヴェルディが提唱した「第二の作法(さくほう)Seconda Pratica」という言葉を、モンテヴェルディ本人や同時代の何人かの音楽理論家の言説を分析することによって見直す作業を行った。「第二の作法」は、厳格対位法の規則よりも歌詞の示す様々な情感を劇的に表現する作曲技法のほうを重視する姿勢を表明するためにモンテヴェルディが用いた言葉であり、そのために、現在ではしばしばバロック音楽の基本理念の代名詞のように見なされているが、当時は、そのような側面以上に、作曲家個々人の独創性を志向する創作態度を示す言葉として受け止められていることがこの研究によって明らかになった。この研究成果は、成城大学文芸学部の紀要『成城文藝』第209号に論文として発表した。また、今年度の研究計画の一環として、同時代の英国における音楽理論の動向に関する研究のために、ロンドンの大英図書館で資料の基礎調査を行った。17世紀後半に英国で出版された音楽理論書を中心に所蔵資料の確認をし、今後の研究に必要な資料をリストアップする作業を行った。同時に、上記のモンテヴェルディ「第二の作法」に関する研究に必要かつ国内では入手不可能なイタリア語の資料を閲覧し、パソコンを用いて転写する作業を行った。
