项目摘要

本年度の主たる研究の目的は、以下2つの課題の実行であった。すなわち、国際的にこれまでの研究内容を発表することと、前年度から継続して貴重資料群のデータベース作成に一定の目途を立てることである。第一の課題については、2009年7月から8月にかけてハンガリーの首都ブダペストで行われた、科学史関連では最大である国際学会において18世紀半ばの弾道学的諸問題の理論的および実験的側面についての分析結果を発表し、2010年1月には京都大学理学部において同大学の名誉教授である上野健爾氏主催の数学史国際シンポジュームで曲線概念と関数概念の混交する17世紀末から18世紀前半における無限小解析学について、国際的な近代数学史研究の権威である、ベルリン工科大学のEberhard Knobloch教授と議論を行った。また、第二の課題の画像データベースの作成については、本年もパリのフランス国立図書館を中心として、貴重書の収集に努めた。その結果、パリ王立科学アカデミーの構成員である数学者Etienne Bezoutによる応用力学についての教育的著作やBenjamin Robins, Leonhard Eulerの砲術書の新フランス語訳等のデジタルデータ化を行った。ハードウェアレベルからの画像処理専用のコンピューターの構築についても前年から継続し、諸図形の形状をデジタル人力する専用ソフトを導入しデータベースを作成した。
