本年度の主要研究業績である論文「応用哲学の現状と課題」および学会発表「経済学におけるモデルと実在」は、一方で過年度の古典的・理論哲学的研究の成果を基礎としつつ、他方で本研究がその目的のひとつとする応用的・学際的研究の積極的展開を企図して進められた。「経済学におけるモデルと実在」では、経済学方法論でいまや古典の位置を占めているミルトン・フリードマンの科学観を取り上げた。議論の出発点は、「経済学を含む実証科学の目的は予測の成功であり、理論における諸前提は非現実的なものであってもかまわない」という主張と解釈されてきたフリードマンの「実証的科学の方法論」が、現象に大きな変化が起こった場合の理論選択ないし理論構築の問題にそのままではまったく対処し得ないという問題である。ここからさらに次の点を論じた。(1)科学の現場において理論選択や新しい理論構築にあたって実際に指針とされるのは「科学的モデル」である。(2)そのような科学的モデルには、力学モデルからグラフィック・モデルに至るまで、多種多様なものが含まれる。(3)ただし経済学において通常扱われるモデルはほとんど「数式モデル」だと考えられている。(4)しかし、経済学にも多様なモデルの使用が理論の改良・構築に貢献してきたことは、いくつかの理論史的事例から確認できる。(5)このような科学的モデルと理論構築との関係を視野に入れることで、フリードマン流の科学方法論をより実際の科学の営みに即したものに作り替えることができる。また、「応用哲学の現状と課題」では、「経済学の哲学」と「哲学カウンセリング」という我が国においては未発達な哲学の応用的分野の欧米における先行研究をサーベイし、今後の展開への示唆を与えた。
