项目摘要

1資料・史料蒐集と読解:平成21年3月より翌22年3月まで一年間にわたってバーミンガム大学において在外研究に従事し、Lambeth Palace Library等を始め複数の図書館や地方文書館を訪れて史料調査を行う傍ら、バーミンガム大学のデジタル・アーカイヴズを駆使して史料蒐集と整理を行った。現時点で、21年度に蒐集した史料の5割程度の読解を完了した。2研究論文の執筆その他:今井康雄編『教育思想史』(有斐閣、2009年)にジョン・ロックの教育思想に関する論文を寄稿した。また、サラ・トリマーの教育活動に関する論文を21年7月に脱稿した。これは、Malcolm Dick and Jane Martin(ed.), Recovered from Hisrory : Women, Children and Education in the Eighteenth Century(Brewin Books, 2010)に掲載予定である。さらに、国教会系の民衆教育団体である国民協会の設立に関する論文を脱稿した(平成22年4月に、History of Education Society(UK)に投稿予定)。3学会発表その他:ユトレヒトで行われた国際教育史学会、イギリス・シェフィールドで行われた教育史学会をはじめ、複数の学会や研究会に参加し、内外の研究者と交流した。また、平成21年12月には、バーミンガム大学において国民協会の設立に関する口頭発表を、DOMUS Seminarで行った。4研究成果の意義と重要性:ロックに関する論文は、ロック思想を重商主義国家の統治技術として読解したものであり、本研究の思想史的側面の一部をなす。トリマー論文は2007年に発表した論文の英訳であるが、在外研究中に蒐集した一次史料を加えてより実証性を高めた。国民協会に関する報告および論文は、国民協会成立における国教徒内部の葛藤と調整の存在を明らかにし、19世紀初頭における国制変化の一部として国民協会の設立を理解する視座を示したものであり、このテーマに関する内外初の研究としてオリジナリティを有するものであると同時に、本研究の中核をなす成果であると確信している。

Significance and importance of the research results: the paper is a part of the ideological history of this study. The paper was published in 2007 and collected in the field of historical materials. The report of the National Association shows that there is a clear understanding of the existence of the internal adjustment of the Catholic Church at the beginning of the 19th century.
