古英語・中英語期の韻文資料の調査、および、15世紀以降のイギリス演劇を資料中心とした分析が予定通り終了し、英語という言語の通言語的情報連鎖の研究が可能となった。また、英語だけではなく、非西欧語(西アフリカ・ディダ語と琉球沖縄語史的資料)からの示唆も得ることができ、本研究の可能性を裏付けることができた。本研究の申請段階でも、歴史英語研究から他言語研究への示唆、あるいは、英語とは系統発生的に異なる言語の分析から歴史英語研究への洞察可能性を提示していた。3年間の研究を通し、両側面を実証研究として提示することが可能となり、結果として言語進化の深層部まで迫れたものと判断している。
