项目摘要

本研究は観念的な世界観が、外界の存在を前提とする世界観や自然主義的な世界観に対して持ち得る権利を確認することから始められた。イギリス経験論のバークリに見られるような観念論的な世界観は、それが外界の存在という私たちの当然の前提にそぐわない不自然さをその根本に持っていると考えられる。しかし反対に外界の実在から始める立場も、認識の基本単位となる観念がどこから生じたかという問題を根本に持っていることが確認された。これらはそれぞれの世界観における体系の全体が根本に所持している前提に関わる問題である。しかしそれぞれの問題は体系の持つ欠陥というよりも、あらゆる体系が必然的に所持する問われない前提という観点から問い直される必要があると考えられた。これはふたつの研究方向を導いた。第一は物質と観念、外界と内界という区別を前提にした出発点そのものを問い直す方向。第二は、どんな説明の体系であれ、それが所持する問われない前提というものがあり、いかにしてその問われなさが成り立っているのかを究明する方向である。第一の方向においては観念論対外界の実在論という構図を、中立一元論的な観点から問い直すことで、それぞれの立場がどちらにも還元されない形で保管し合えることを確認した。また第二の方向においては、ある説明の体系がその前提を隠し持つ構造を、ウィトゲンシュタインの規則や西田の場所の理論から問い直し、ある体系の根拠は、問われないがゆえにその体系を成立させる仕組みを持つことを確認した。しかもこの根拠は観念論でも外界実在論でも同様に所持するものであり、したがってこの根拠があるためにどちらか一方の立論だけが退けられることもないことが結論づけられた。
