项目摘要

15世紀イタリアの画家ジョヴァンニ・ベッリーニが画歴後期に制作した寓意・神話主題作品について、制作年代と注文主の検討を含め、多様な図像源泉からその制作環境を再構成を試みた。またそれにより、ベッリーニのもう一つの側面である16世紀を境とした寓意、神話主題に対する取り組みの諸相は、15世紀後半から16世紀初頭にかけてのヴェネツィアの宗教的・社会的背景、なかでも祈りの実践と密接に関わりをもつことを個別の作品分析から考察した。平成19年度は、前年の作品分析によって得られた、当時のヴェネツィアにおける文化的コンテクストをふまえ、祭壇画作品における美術と社会・文化的背景の関わりについて調査を行った。なかでも、祭壇画の設置された修道院付属教会で実践されていた宗教的な思想と図像内容の関係について一次文献史料の読解および二次文献により考察した。15世紀後半当時の宗教的、文化的状況が作品に及ぼした具体的な影響を検討した本研究は、古代思想がキリスト教に従って寓意的に解釈され変化してゆく環境、また転換期のヴェネツィアという制作環境の場を読み解く重要性を持つ。
