2つの実験によって,潜在的なプロセスが関わるとされる洞察課題の遂行時に,言語的な振り返りを行うことが及ぼす影響を検討した。なお,今年度は,言語化の仕方の違いに着目し,言語化の影響の出方を検討した。実験1では,Kiyokawa & Nakazawa(2006)において,思考の言語化による妨害効果が生じたTパズルを用いて,同じ言語化でも「このようにやっていては解決しないのではないか」と考える点について言語化すること,すなわち反省的言語化を行うことの効果を検討した。具体的には,課題への取り組みを一旦中断して,「このようにやっていては解決しないのではないか」と思う点について言語化する「反省的言語化条件」と,課題とは無関連な内容を説明する「無関連言語化条件」の成績について比較を行った。指標としては,(1)制限時間内での解決率と(2)解決を阻害している不適切な制約の緩和度を用いた。その結果,解決率には明確な差が認められなかったものの,反省的言語化条件において解決を阻害している制約の緩和が促進されていることが明らかとなった。実験2では,Schooler, Ohlsoon, & Brooks (1993)で言語化による妨害効果が示されている言語的洞察課題を用いて,記述的言語化および反省的言語化の影響を検討した。具体的には,実験1と同じ2条件に加えて,「どのようにして問題に取り組んだか」を言語化する「記述的言語化条件」を設定し制限時間内での解決率を比較した。その結果,7間中「睡蓮」問題でのみ,記述的言語化による妨害効果が示された。また,反省的言語化による促進効果は,いずれの問題に関しても見られなかった。以上より,言語化をすれば必ず妨害効果が生じるわけではなく,反省的な言語化であれば促進的な効果が得られる可能性もあることが明らかとなった。また,「洞察問題」として一括りにされている問題の中でも言語化の影響の出方が異なることが示唆された。
