We have succeeded in the synthesis of various organic-capped silicon nanosheets with sub-nanometer thickness from layered silicon materials. The resulted amine-modified silicon nanosheets are easily self-assembled in a concentrated state to form a regularly stacked structure. In addition, the phenyl-capped silicon nanosheet has great potential as an electrode for solar cells because of the observation of light-induced photocurrent.
