トバモウイルスのRNA複製に関与する低分子量GTP結合タンパク質ARL8の機能を解析した。試験管内トバモウイルスRNA複製系を用いた実験および植物体を用いた実験により、ARL8のGTP結合型とGDP結合型のうち、GTP結合型が生体膜上でトバモウイルスの複製に関与することが示唆された。また、ARL8は生体内で、トバモウイルスのRNA複製に関与するTOM1, TOM2Aに加え、液胞型H^+-ATPase (V-ATPase)およびGolginとも結合していることが示唆された。しかし、V-ATPaseあるいはGolginがトバモウイルスの増殖に関与することを示唆する結果は現在のところ得られていない。
