全く予期しない踏み外しに対する姿勢制御戦略を分析した結果、予測された感覚入力と実際の感覚入力との差に基づいて100ms以下という潜時での反射を行うことができることが明らかになった。また、歩行リズムのリセットや足を曲げての適応的ステップといったストラテジも観察され、ヒトはフィードバック、フィードフォワード両方の戦略を駆使した包括的な姿勢制御を行うということが明らかとなった。
