中国における自然哲学の理論構築には、陰陽五行説が大いに用いられた。これまでの研究では、主としてその起源と漢代における政治思想への影響が考察されてきたが、本研究では、三国時代以降にどのような展開があったのかを明確にし、その理論構造の特色を探った。そして、先秦の方術が、漢代の思想革命を経て、中世の術数学へと変容する過程を考察し、中国科学思想史として術数学を総合的に考究する研究基盤を整えた。
