初年度、米仏の研究者を招聘し近代ヨーロッパでの詩と造形芸術の関わりを巡るシンポジウムを開催、日本の研究者との緊密な意見交換がなされた。発表は(1)ボードレールと18世紀の関係、(2)マネの絵画を読み解くバタイユとフーコー、(3)ブルトンの手書き文字の問題、(4)デュパンとボンヌフォワのデッサン論の考察、(5)ボードレールからヴァレリーやアルトーに至る系譜のまとめと再考察、(6)詩人デュパンとの質疑応答、に分かれ、各発表者が近代から現代を対象に、詩人と画家の、ひいては「見る」と「言う」の間の親和力または緊張関係の確認を行った。次年度は研究代表者が、研究対象のデュパンの絵画論の草稿研究、及びボンヌフォワの言及するフレスコ画の実地検証などを行い、次の論文の準備を進めた。
