平成17~18年度の科学研究費補助金を得て開発して来た大型浮体用の機械継手に予加振を与えて剛性に及ぼす影響を検討し、続いて継手の空隙に稠密に充填される小径の球状体の単体および球群の圧壊実験を実施し、その結果を用いて継手の強度の推定法を検討した。さらに、これまでの結果を機械継手で接合される桁の構造設計の考え方としてまとめた。
