Synthesis and evaluation of new α-glucosidase inhibitors having thiosugar-sulfonium salt structure based on salacinol

沙拉西诺(1)是一种有效的糖苷酶抑制剂，从阿育吠陀药物(沙拉西娅)中分离出来，在斯里兰卡和印度传统上用于治疗糖尿病。为了确定1的5元硫糖-硫环结构对α-葡萄糖苷酶的抑制作用，合成了几个1的二元类似物。它们作为抑制剂的评价表明，1的5元环结构是有效抑制所必需的。

Salacinol (1) is a potent glycosidase inhibitor isolated from Ayurvedic medicine (Salacia reticulata), which is traditionally used for the treatment of diabetes in Sri Lanka and India. In order to determine the effect of 5 membered thiosugar-sulfonium ring structure of 1 on α-glucosidase inhibition, several seco-analogs of 1 were synthesized. Their evaluation as inhibitors indicated that 5 membered ring structure of 1 was essential for the potent inhibition.
