アルコール性肝障害は我が国において増加の一途を辿っているが、その病態や新規治療法に関する知見は少ない。我々はヒトでのアルコール性肝障害に類似した病像を呈するPPARαノックアウトマウスを用い、その病態を解析した。本マウスでは酸化ストレス産生亢進に伴い肝炎・肝線維化が生じていた。脂肪肝の治療薬であるポリエンフォスファチジルコリン(PPC)は、酸化ストレス産生亢進を緩和することにより本マウスでの肝炎を軽減させた。これらの結果はアルコール性肝障害における酸化ストレスの重要性とともに、PPC の新規治療薬としての可能性を示唆している。
