関節リウマチの病因のひとつと考えられているシトルリン化フィブリノゲン(C-Fbg)は、トロンビンの切断部位のArgがシトルリン化されるため、フィブリノペプチドの放出が起こらないために重合反応が起こらないことを明らかにした。また、健常ヒト滑膜培養細胞にC-Fbgを添加する実験では、C-Fbg単独、患者中に存在する抗CCP抗体との同時添加によっても、炎症を惹起するような物質の明らかな増加は観察されなかった。
