本研究の成果として,変形性膝関節症患者の生活上の困難および自己管理の実態が明らかとなり,生活上の困難を測定する14 項目の有用性のある尺度が開発された.本研究結果は,患者に対して日常生活動作の工夫に関する情報提供や動作訓練,膝OA が悪化しないための方略,痛みをはじめとする症状マネジメントを行うことの重要性を示唆するものであり,医療従事者の患者に対する理解,ケアの質を深める一助となる.
