白頭山東麓に分布する10世紀巨大噴火以降の火山灰層の起源について調査を行い,それらへの人的影響について検討を行ったが,森林破壊等による局所的な斜面崩壊により再移動した火山灰はごく少量であった。一方,噴火起源の火山灰層の物質科学的検討からは,これまで古文書解析から大規模な噴火を行ったとされた1702年噴火についての解釈の妥当性は低く,過去1000年の間,白頭山は小規模な水蒸気噴火を繰り返していたことが明らかとなった

The origin of volcanic ash layer caused by huge eruption in the eastern foot of Changbai Mountain in the 10th century was investigated, and the influence of human beings was discussed. The slope collapse of forest was caused by the re-movement of volcanic ash. On the one hand, the origin of volcanic ash layer and the material science of the discussion, this is the ancient text analysis from the large-scale volcanic ash layer to 1702, the appropriateness of the solution is low, in the past 1000 years, Changbai Mountain from the small-scale volcanic ash layer to return to the same.
