実大円柱まわりの流れは、縮尺相似則の問題から通常の風洞実験や流体計算で再現するのは困難である。本研究では、大規模計算機の利用により細かい解像度を確保した上で、実大スケールの円筒形構造物まわりの複雑な流れを再現するための解析手法の検討を行った。その結果、精度良く再現できる計算条件・モデルを示すとともに、得られた解析結果から、これまでの実験的考察では得られなかった円柱近傍の複雑な流れ特性を明らかにした。
