本研究課題の目的は、２歳以上の子どもから成人に至る、レキシコン（語彙知識）と言語処理方略の発達過程にみられる一般的傾向と個人差を生み出す諸要因を実証的縦断研究により明らかにすることである。2021年度当初の研究計画では、これまでに実施した対面での縦断研究をふまえて、とくに2020年以降のコロナ禍において実施できなかった国際的な研究を補うべく、不足する知見を補足するための追加的な研究を行い、本研究課題を総括することを予定していた。そのために幅広い地域と研究対象から実験データを収集するために国内外での研究を予定していたが、2020年からのコロナ禍で海外渡航が困難となり、2021年度からの体調不良により当初の計画に沿った研究方法を改め、これまでの研究成果の一部を整理し、英文の論文としてまとめた。複合語処理の発達過程を探る方法として、言語産出課題と言語理解課題、および文法産出課題を縦断的に行い、発達変化を追跡したところ、理解課題において、すでに2歳児の段階で、複合語処理における形態素解析の発達の軌跡がとらえられたため、文法的階層性の発達という点から再検討することとした。以上の結果について、2歳児以降の言語の文法的階層性(grammatical hierarchy)の発達をカスケードモデルの枠組みにより検討した。言語理解の発達が言語産出の発達に先行することが明らかになった。これらの成果は2023年度に学会発表し、論文化し、本課題を完了する予定である。
