本研究で提案するライフパタン研究とは,大規模な量的調査データを用いて個人の各ライフステージでの生活,志向性,価値観などの変遷を時系列的に追って,いくつかのパタン化を試みようとするものである。モデルの構築には長期的なパネルを用いた縦断的研究が必要となるが3年間で変化を抽出することは難しいため,これを補完する方法として想起法による過去5時点の生活領域の変化を検討し,ライフパタンモデル構築のための基礎資料とした。統計的な手法の確立については今後の課題である。また,2007年～2009年に組織労働者を対象に質問紙調査を行い約19,000名分のデータを得た。ここから生活や生き方のパタンの違いによる幸福感や働きがい,生活満足度などを検討したところ,大きく6つのタイプが抽出された。生活満足度が高かったのは家庭中心型であり,幸福感が最も高いのもこの型であった。日本の組織労働者の全体傾向としては,まず家庭領域が幸福感に大きく寄与していることが明らかになった。一方で生きがい感に対しては家庭,そして仕事領域の双方が大きな影響を及ぼしていることがわかった。そして余暇などの自由時間領域は幸福感や生きがいに直接貢献してはいるものの,その働きは仕事や家庭のストレス要因を緩和するようなものであることが示唆された。一方で「趣味に生きるオタク」や「仕事人間」のように一つの領域のみにエネルギーを費やしている層は生活満足度や幸福感が低い傾向がみられた。これらのことからワーク・ライフ・バランスの観点からは,家庭と仕事,自由時間の間のバランスのとれた生活が人生全体において望ましいことが改めて示されたと言える。今後は,現在構築中のライフパタンモデルを確立し,価値観や志向性などの観点も加味して,現在のライフ・バランスや幸福感満足度などが時系列的にどのように変化していくかということを総合的に検討していくことが課題である。
