项目摘要

本研究の目的として、１：茅葺道具の変遷とその地域性、２：史料と道具から見た中世以前の茅葺方法、３：逆葺き構法の分布と変遷、以上の３点を研究課題として設定している。今年度は、前年度にまとめた研究課題１・２についての論文を補強・検証することを目的として、茅葺道具の調査事例を増やした。今年度は、青森県に所在する旧笠石家住宅（十和田市、重要文化財）において、屋根修理の際に用いた茅葺道具を調査した。ここでは茅葺コテの変遷のうち、古い段階のワラゴテをはじめとして、タタキ板、ツキゴテの各段階のコテを確認した。また、京都府に所在する美山民俗資料館では、茅葺ハサミのうち、古い形式のヨコバサミ（反りのないハサミ）を確認した。以上のように、現在では使われない古式の茅葺道具が民俗資料館などに残されていることから、茅葺道具の変遷を遡る研究について可能性が広がるとともに、地域性についても明らかにできる可能性がある。また、調査の結果は前年度の論文を補強するものであった。現地調査のほかにも情報収集を継続して調査研究の準備を進め、ススキやヨシなどの現在一般的な素材以外の茅葺材についても着目した。これは特に研究課題３に関連すると予想している。これまでの調査結果に加えて残されている研究課題３について明らかにすることで、研究全体としては、全国的に真葺きを限られた種類の茅でおこなっている現状に対して、多様な茅葺の姿を提示できるものと考えられる。
