現代のエコロジー的危機の源泉は一部には市場的規範の地理的=空間的な「外延的拡張」と「内包的深化」にある。しかし、現代の主流的な環境言説に見られる経済学的アプローチには、環境財の貨幣的評価や費用便益分析、あるいは環境財の私的所有化などに見られるように、市場的な思考習慣が深く浸透しており、むしろこの傾向を強化するよう働いている。そこで、本研究では、持続可能性(sustainability)をめぐる経済学研究において共有されたいくつかの基礎概念を析出し、それらへの批判的検討を踏まえ、主観主義的な効用概念や資本理論に基づく従来の持続可能性解釈に潜在する理論的欠陥の解明を課題とした。持続可能性への経済学からのアプローチは決して一枚岩ではなく、各学派が異なる枠組みの下で持続可能性の独自の解釈・定義を与えようと試みてきた。とくに人工資本と自然資本という2つの「資本」類型間の代替可能性をめぐって論争が生じ、「弱い持続可能性」と「強い持続可能性」という2つの規範モデルへと帰着するに至っている。だが、いずれの解釈でも、持続可能性概念を定式化するにあたって、(1)その最終目的を資本ストックから引き出される財・サービスのフローを通じた将来に亘る人間の厚生水準の維持と措定し、(2)自然・生態系が提供する多様な便益の理論的把握のために、それを資本タームで概念化する、という類似した論理構成が見られる。実際、持続可能性をめぐる経済言説に現れる諸概念・諸範疇-人工資本、自然資本、代替性(substitutability)、厚生(welfare)、福祉(well-being)等々-がそれぞれ具体的に何を含意したものかはそれほど明確でない。本研究では、これらの基礎的な諸概念や概念相互の関係を改めて精査するとともに、強い持続可能性の規範理論の基礎づけを試みた。

The source of the crisis of modern times is the normative and geographical = spatial expansion of the market and the deepening of the internal package. The mainstream of modern environmental discourse is the analysis of the cost of environmental finance, the ownership of environmental finance, and the strengthening of market thinking habits. In this study, the basic concepts of sustainability in economic research are identified, and critical discussions are carried out. The concepts of subjectivity and sustainability in capital theory are discussed in detail. The theory of persistence possibility is different from that of other schools. Controversies arise on the possibility of substitution between artificial capital and natural capital, on the possibility of weak persistence, on the possibility of strong persistence, on the possibility of standardization, on the possibility of substitution between artificial capital and natural capital. The concept of sustainability is formalized;(1) the ultimate goal of capital is to lead to the development of financial resources and services;(2) the maintenance and management of human health standards in the future; and (3) nature and ecosystems provide a theoretical grasp of multiple benefits. In reality, the various concepts and categories that appear in the discussion of sustainable possibilities-artificial capital, natural capital, substitutability, welfare, well-being, etc. -have specific meanings. In this study, the basic concepts and their relationships are reviewed, and the basic concepts of gauge field theory are tested.
